Lago Maggiore

Lago Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy

Lago Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda. Its west bank has belonged to Piedmont since 1743, while its east bank lies in Lombardy. The north end, including Locarno, is in Swiss territory. Lake Maggiore is a beautiful lake surrounded by picturesque snow-capped mountains and has been a popular resort since the 19th century, visited for its romantic scenery and good climate. The central part of the lake near Stresa and the Borromean islands is particularly interesting and the northern reach has the best scenery. There are good boat services, plentiful hotels and of course stunning wedding venues.
